Albie Awards Dinner 2023
Each year the Albie Awards celebrates filmmakers in our community whose work defies categorization and paves the way for future documentary futures.
This impressive cohort of honorees, vice chairs and dinner hosts are the radical and innovative thinkers and artists who inspire us and new generations of artists through their engaging work and tireless commitment to social justice and nonfiction storytelling.

About the Albie Awards
The Albie Awards is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It's a moment to reflect on past work and look forward to the future. It’s an opportunity for the MDC community to gather and celebrate premier documentary filmmakers in Harlem, connecting you to each other in a fun and celebratory atmosphere while bringing alive the work that indie filmmakers do in creative self-expression.
WHAT WE DO IS IMPORTANT! We designed AMDI for emerging artists interested in cultivating an empathetic and ethical documentary practice, and priority will be given to filmmakers who have historically been denied industry access, including but not limited to those who identify as Black/Brown, queer/gender non conforming, low-income, indigenous, disabled, as well as to those living locally.
