VIRTUAL CINEMA: Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth will be available as a 72hr VOD rental for $3.99 from May 8th-22nd

Matt Wolf, 2020, 113min.
Spaceship Earth is the true, stranger-than-fiction, adventure of eight visionaries who in 1991 spent two years quarantined inside of a self-engineered replica of Earth’s ecosystem called BIOSPHERE 2. The experiment was a worldwide phenomenon, chronicling daily existence in the face of life threatening ecological disaster and a growing criticism that it was nothing more than a cult. The bizarre story is both a cautionary tale and a hopeful lesson of how a small group of dreamers can potentially reimagine a new world.

Zoom Q&A with Editor David Teague, Associate Editor Marley Mcdonald & Archival/Story Producer Brian Becker Saturday, May 16th at 4pm EST.

“An involving, oddly poignant tale that should have broad appeal to those on the lookout for distinctive documentary features.”- Variety

“A testament to the group of outsiders who did try to grab the world's attention about climate change through theatrics and to do something substantial about it.”- The Wrap

Due to the nature of this screening we are unable to offer sliding scale ticketing prices. A portion of all ticket sales from Spaceship Earth will go to directly supporting Maysles Cinema and our documentary education programs for young people in Harlem during these uncertain times.
