Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali is screening for free w/ RSVP on 8/18 as part of NYC Homecoming Week. This film is presented with Rooftop Films and The Layout.

Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali tells the extraordinary story behind the friendship of two of the most iconic figures of the 20th century: Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X. Few people understand the bond these men shared. The charismatic and outspoken Olympic champion who charmed the nation, and the excon-turned-intellectual revolutionary who railed against the evils of white oppression by speaking truth to power. The message they carry, still as potent and relevant today as ever before. Their bond was undoubtedly deep, their friendship real and their legacies inextricably bound. Courtesy of Netflix.

NYC Homecoming Week, August 14-22, is a citywide celebration featuring live concerts, free movie screenings, cultural activities, iconic events, public art, and more. This five-borough week of events drives support for the mom-and-pop businesses that define our neighborhoods and that kept the heart of our city beating throughout the COVID pandemic.

For over 24 years, Rooftop Films has been championing the work of independent filmmakers and bringing films rooted in compassion, solidarity, learning, togetherness, exploration, and inspiration to tens of thousands of people across all five boroughs of New York City.

The Layout is a group of Brooklyn-based activists and organizers who are helping the Black community reclaim space, time, energy and, most importantly, each other.
