Francesco Patierno, 2018, 70 min

Francesco Patierno’s Camorra is a striking historical and socio-anthropological portrait of the Campania’s regional capital and of the organized crime that afflicts it. The result of months of research among the treasures of Rai Teche archives, their surprising period films, many of which unpublished, find a visceral link in the music and in the original songs written by Meg.

Francesco Patierno (Napoli 1964) is an Italian director and screenwriter. His first feature-length movie, Pater Familias, was shown in competition at the Berlin Film Festival in 2003. In 2012 La guerra dei vulcani was presented at festivals including Venice, Toronto, London and New York. In 2017, Naples ’44, was in competition at the Rome Film Festival, and his other film Diva!, with eight of Italy’s finest female actors, was officially selected for the Venice Film Festival and won the Nastro d’Argento for Best Documentary Film. Camorra (2018), his latest documentary, premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
