Co-Presented with Spirit of Mandela and About the People
Spirit of Mandela’s About the People’s (AtP) presents KWAME 'BEANS' SHAKUR: CONTINUING A LEGACY, a docu-short highlighting the extraordinary movement work of a modern political prisoner, with commentary from Black Panther Party veterans on the urgency to liberate our freedom fighters and continue the legacy of the San Francisco Bay View national Black newspaper.
Preceded by an excerpt from AtP’s CAMP MUNTAQIM, featuring interviews with revolutionary elder, Jalil Muntaqim ( a veteran member of the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army) and incarcerated organizer, Kwame ‘Beans’ Shakur.
About the People is an audio-visual project that emerges out of the 2021 International Tribunal and ongoing organizing lens of the Spirit of Mandela Coalition campaign (SoM), which brought five charges of genocide against the u.s. Following the Guilty Verdict on all five counts. AtP was created to highlight the grassroots work of committed strugglers, revolutionaries and people of conscience in its looted colonies and territories.
Screening followed by a Q&A, discussion, and build with Spirit of Mandela!
